Artificial Intelligence

Site Use

I don't write pages or blog posts with large language models (LLM) like ChatGPT or other generative AIs. I will occasionally use AI like a search engine and follow the sources cited by the AI. You will see me clearly call out when AI was used. I work in domain-specific knowledge enough that even paid models will hallucinate too often for my comfort.

Personal Use

I have a recent enough iPhone and Macbook that both run Apple Intelligence, and I am using a coupon for a free year of Perplexity Pro. The best thing any of these AIs have done so far for me is teach me how to cut bell peppers better.

Work Use

I almost never use AI at work because I deal with PII, PHI, and proprietary systems all day long. The few chances I get to use AI are generally for research aids.

I was a part of implementing DAX Co-pilot at my workplace, an AI software that listens to patient-provider conversations and summarizes them into charts to reduce provider charting needs.

Responsible Use

I'm not convinced that society has fully grappled with the environmental concerns of AI use or the new ways AI makes economic disparity possible. It remains to be seen if the greed for AI's outcomes will outpace the governance needed for human flourishing in an artificially generated world.
